A side project that I’ve had in the making for almost 6 months, working on it between classes. Originally, I had two side projects that weren’t really going anywhere, a garden and an old building, and for fun I decided to try and combine them. Turns out they worked great together, and any room is better when it’s full plants!
I feel that plants are often reduced to duplicated planes in many games, and for the garden project I wanted to approach the making of plants as hero props, without any use of scans. Every plant type was carefully examined to see how they grow, what details must be present to make it feel authentic, what makes it different from other plants?
The individual leaves and stems were sculpted in ZBrush and baked and textured in Substance Designer (planes) and Substance Painter (mesh parts).
